Energy spend varies from bill

The application is designed to make it easy for you to see where you are being efficient with your energy and to see where you might be able to be more energy efficient. If you reduce your energy consumption, you are likely to see savings on your bills, although this depends on your specific billing arrangements and tariff contracts with your energy supplier.

The application provides an indicative estimate of energy costs (i.e. your spend on money) based on your energy consumption. Because energy bills are complex with a variety of charges, the cost savings in Pilio should only be used as guidance to inform energy management decisions.

Using a specific tariff for your meters

For better insights, the information on your energy spend can be calculated from the tariff rates you set at the meter level. You can add a specific actual tariff to the calculation of your energy spend in Pilio.

To add a custom tariff for one of your meters, check our guide here.

If you do not have the specific information for your meter tariffs, the application uses default amounts which are typical for each fuel type. Typically, energy bills contain some estimated readings and may have different tariff rates for different periods, so even if you have detailed tariff information your results will be an approximation of your actual bill.
