Meter reading tips

For help on how to read a meter, please see the below on how to read:

- an electricity meter

- a gas meter

- a water meter (this is the same as either gas or electricity single-dial non-digital meters)

Here are some tips that you can keep in mind when dealing with meter readings:

- the current reading should always be higher than (or equal to) the last reading unless the meter has rolled over.

- the first digits should be the same or in close proximity, e.g. 68402 (last week) and 68700 (this week).

- the same number of digits each week should be recorded unless the meter has rolled up a digit.

- always check that the readings correspond to the correct meter.
