Why did my previous results change?

It is possible that results for historic data have changed. This is common and there are a number of reasons why this can happen.

1) Incorrect data and mistakes

The main reason for a change in results is incorrect meter readings.

In meter readings, it is also possible that mistakes have been in visual meter readings (e.g., wrong number of digits, etc.). Check the below FAQs to read more on how to avoid them:

2) Estimated meter readings

It is possible that the meter readings that have been used in calculating your results are estimated meter readings. An estimated meter reading is used when a non-smart meter has not been read visually (by an agent or the client) or when a smart meter has some communication issues.

This is more common in the case of non-smart meters, although it can also happen for smart meters.

This will be most likely fixed by your supplier or data collector. A "re-billing" is the usual outcome.

Once Pilio obtains new actual data, the software will recalculate the results accordingly.

3) Incomplete data

It can happen that a meter reading is not covering the whole month. Pilio will be still giving results up to that date. It will give updated results once a new reading covering the whole month will be added.

4) New data

It is possible that new meters have been added, together with historic data. This might be the case in which a new meter was found or a new building was added at a later point.

5) Removed data

It is also possible that meters or buildings have been removed because of being wrongly reported in the past.
